Interview with the Winner of the 7^th CEE Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Excellence Award!

To learn more about the award winning project, we interviewed Giuseppe Petrosino, Regional Sales Specialist for Antares Vision Inspection Machine Business Unit in Parma.

Please introduce yourself, describe your position and your company.

Giuseppe Petrosino "My name is Giuseppe Petrosino, Regional Sales Specialist for Antares Vision Inspection Machine Business Unit in Parma (Italy) – currently in charge of Central, Eastern and Northern Europe and supporting the sales operations on the entire portfolio of Inspection Machines.

Antares Vision Group is a technological partner of excellence in digitalization and innovation for companies and institutions, to guarantee the safety of products and people, the competitiveness of businesses and protection of the planet. It offers a unique and complete ecosystem of technologies to guarantee product quality (inspection systems and machines) and product traceability along the supply chain (from raw materials, to production, from distribution to the consumer), with integrated management of data for production and supply chain, also through the application of artificial intelligence and the use of blockchain. Antares Vision Group is active in the life sciences sector (pharmaceuticals, biomedical devices and hospitals), in food and beverage, in cosmetics and is expanding into other sectors."

Which solutions and improvements did you introduce for your client?

Giuseppe Petrosino "A leading player in the Polish pharmaceutical market and one of the major drug manufacturers in the region of Central and Eastern Europe engaged Antares Vision Group to develop a solution for inspecting Blow Fill Seal Large Volume Bottles for their Polish Site.

The solution designed consists of a combined inspection machine perfectly integrated into the customer’s production line that allows to perform Visual Inspection & Leak Detection of 4 different BFS product formats."

How did this contribute to your client’s success?

Giuseppe Petrosino "After an accurate evaluation of our customer requirements and of the specific characteristics of this packaging type, the Antares Vision Team designed and manufactured an in-line machine featuring advanced inspection technologies.

The installation of this automatic inspection machines dedicated to Blow fill Seal ensured our customer a high level of production quality. While this machine has been perfectly working for more than four years at our customer’s site, it represents the first of such AV Group BFS LVP solution and laid the foundations for many other projects developed in different countries."

What was the innovation within your project which made you win the 7th CEE Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Excellence Award?

Giuseppe Petrosino "Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) containers are among the most important packaging for pharmaceuticals, and the inspection of these containers presents specific challenges because of the characteristics of this packaging type. Considering the international regulatory standards requirements: every single container has to be inspected all-around, gapless, and from all sides to detect defects, contamination, leaks, cosmetic flaws to the packaging and foreign particles.

We believe this project well represents the challenges for pharmaceutical products quality inspection."

How do you think the recognition is helping you to raise your brand awareness further?

Giuseppe Petrosino "We are honored to receive this award and to be recognized as an innovative solution provider. We believe this award will help us strengthen our brand awareness, especially in the CEE market, as a group of companies offering a wide-ranging portfolio of solutions and services to support the business growth of our customers through the digitalization of production and supply chains."

In your opinion, how is the award supporting the developments of manufacturing excellence solutions in the CEE region?

Giuseppe Petrosino "PHARM Connect is one of the main CEE region events regrouping many pharmaceutical players and we think promoting this award will help raise the bar of pharmaceutical standards especially considering product quality."

From your perspective, which are the biggest challenges the pharmaceutical industry is facing nowadays in the CEE region?

Giuseppe Petrosino "We think that product quality is more and more a crucial challenge for the industry: delivering advanced visual inspection technologies, ensuring Container Closure integrity and reducing false rejects in production are some of the main tasks the market will need to focus on."

How are you supporting your clients to overcome them?

Giuseppe Petrosino "As Antares Vision Group, we are strongly committed to guaranteeing pharmaceutical products quality, by designing and producing innovative inspection machines.

Two of our production sites (in Parma and Vicenza, Italy) are entirely dedicated to inspection machines. The AV Group Inspection Machines product unit counts more than 60 employees including specific R&D and QA personnel."

Giuseppe Petrosino "We will be happy to share new customer’s case studies and challenges."
