PHARM Connect 2022

PHARM Connect 2022 - Life science and business reunited

Central and Eastern Europe’s leading B2B life science event, the PHARM Connect Congress, made a triumphant return to the region’s event calendar in May this year, this time in the Polish capital city of Warsaw! After a long wait, live business events have returned, much to the delight of senior decision-makers who have been looking forward to the opportunity to benchmark with their peers from across the Central & Eastern European pharma and biotech industries and to gain fresh information necessary to excel in their work, as well as to find much-needed solutions in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

Strategic Concepts and Thought Leadership

The congress’s informative presentations and panel discussions were led by well-known university professors and highly-acclaimed industry experts from Polpharma, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Novartis, Lek, Arterium, Hamilton, JPP Biologics, Alkaloida, Kedrion Biopharma, University of St. Gallen, Technical University of Vienna and more.

The congress brought together over 400 global and regional decision-makers, industry executives and business development leaders from over 30 countries to identify new business opportunities, technologies, and state-of-the-art formulation development strategies to foster the exchange of ideas. The attendees conducted nearly 2,000 one-to-one business meetings during the two days.

Highlighting Regional Innovations – Recognizing excellence in CEE

Besides cutting-edge presentations and pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, additional activities and informal activities made the networking focus of the event even more colorful, for example, the announcement and ceremony of the 7th Central and Eastern European Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Excellence Award.

The winning project from Lek Pharmaceuticals within the manufacturer category aims to decrease environmental burden, improvement of product quality, co-worker’s and patient safety.  They implemented isolator-based manufacturing of highly potent drugs which enables the dispensing, processing and discharging and even analysis of highly potent materials without the need of additional protective gear, since the operator is fully protected from HP-API. Furthermore, highly potent waste material is collected and removed safely, reducing the environmental burden.

Elsewhere, the winner in the solution provider category, Antares Vision, has developed a production line which is designed with a reliable transportation system and dedicated infeed, eliminating the specific risk of Blow-Fill-Seal products deformation. With unique lighting patterns and advanced imaging techniques they are able to identify even the thinnest scratches, deformed bottles, inclusions and embedded air bubbles as well as hanger defects, while also spotting free-moving, heavy particles and floating particles. Finally, they are able to test and identify the presence of leaks in hermetically-sealed plastic containers with Vacuum Decay Leak Detection.

Countless of ideas were born, which resulted in a large amount of educational content being exchanged by the appropriate senior leaders and their relevant partners in the most convenient and efficient way.
